Local Emergency Planning Committee
The City of Wayne Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) has been established since 1992 to bring together citizens, business owners and City representatives to plan for the task of protecting the public, the community and emergency first responders from whatever type of hazard that may be within our emergency response boundaries.
Members of the LEPC and others have donated money and materials to provide the City of Wayne Fire Department with an emergency response trailer. This unit is deployed to hazardous materials situations to assist in initial response and clean-up. The trailer contains dyking material, absorbants, drain covers and other necessary supplies to be used in the confinement of hazardous materials.
The LEPC Chairperson is Fire Department Chief Mel Moore and can be contacted using the website contact form or by calling 734-722-1111. The LEPC meets quarterly at various committee member’s facilities. If anyone is interested in attending a meeting please call the chairperson a the above number.
The City of Wayne LEPC recieves partial funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Other related LEPC information can be obtained from the State of Michigan or the FEMA web site.
