 FIREFIGHTERS

 

The City of Wayne is currently accepting applications for the purpose of establishing a Fire Fighter eligibility list.  Applicants must be a citizen of the United States (Birth Certificate or Naturalization Papers required at time of application). High school diploma or GED (presented with application);. Minimum qualifications include State of Michigan Advanced Life Support/Paramedic license within a year of hire, and successful completion of Fire Fighter I and II Firemanship Courses and  Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) Written and Physical Agility Testing. Proof of all the above must be submitted with application.  Possession of current, valid Michigan driver's license and an excellent driving record with no more than three (3) points on current driving record.

POLICE OFFICER


The City of Wayne is accepting applications for Police Officer. Applicants must conform to employment standards as set by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (M.C.O.L.E.S.).

Qualifications include at a minimum:

a.    Associates Degree in related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; experience may be considered in lieu of education.
b.    Must be a U.S. citizen, 21 years or older at time of employment.
c.    MCOLES certified/certifiable as a police officer, or currently enrolled in an MCOLES approved police academy.
d.    Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving history.
e.    No felony convictions and/or disqualifying criminal history.
f.    Ability to successfully pass background investigation, psychological evaluation, interview process and drug/alcohol screen.

POLICE OFFICER

WAYNE POLICE DEPARTMENT
POLICE SERVICE AIDE PROGRAM

 
Starting Pay Rate: $12.00/Hr (Part Time/Up to 28 hours per week)

 Qualifications:

  1. File a properly completed application, which is acceptable to the City of Wayne, and provide satisfactory responses to requests for additional information,
  2. Citizen of the United States.
  3. Be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  4. Possess a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate.
  5. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  6. Have no more than two (2) hazardous traffic violations in the preceding five years, or a total of no more than four (4) points on or after the date of application. The accident history, regardless of fault, will be considered in the appraisal of the applicant’s overall driving skills and, therefore, eligibility.
  7. Have no prior felony convictions.
  8. Any misdemeanor charges and convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility of the applicant.
  9. Pass a drug test, checking for the presence of illicit controlled substances.
  10. Pass the department’s Oral Review Board.
  11. Pass the department background investigation.
  12. Pass a fingerprint check.
  13. An interview with the Police Chief or his designee will be conducted, the results of which will be considered in the applicant’s overall suitability for employment.

 Hiring Process for the Police Service Aide

  • During the announced application period, candidates shall complete the City of Wayne Employment Application.
  • Application must be completed in its entirety and returned to the City of Wayne Personnel Department prior to the published deadline.
  • Oral Review Board.
  • Fingerprint Check.
  • Background Investigation
  • Interview with Police Chief or his designee.
  • Conditional Offer of employment pending drug screening.
  • Appointment to position.

ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR (Part Time)

 Salary Range: $25.052 ~ Approximately 20-28 hours per week.

 Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Minimum of 4 years verifiable experience in building/inspection code enforcement, construction related field, or equivalent and knowledgeable with Michigan Building Code. Must be registered or eligible to become registered within (6) months of hire according to Act 54 P.A. of Michigan 1986. A minimum of two (2) years prior municipal experience preferred. Must also possess a valid State Michigan driver’s license with no more than three (3) points on current driving record.

Starting Pay Rate: $

 9.26/hour

Responsibilities: This position works only during the school year, late August through June

Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older

**WAYNE POLICE DEPARTMENT VOLUNTEER POSITION**

RESERVE POLICE OFFICER - Reserve Police Officer is a voluntary, non-paid position. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 21 years of age, have no more than three (3) points on their driving record and no criminal record.
