Firefighting & Life-Saving Services —
On Guard 24 / 7/ 365
The Wayne Fire Department fulfills our mission statement by using technology, training and commitment in providing life-saving services to the community we serve. This is accomplished though many avenues utilizing emergency preparedness plans, fire prevention activities, fire code enforcement, public education, hazardous materials response teams, state-of-the-art equipment, highly trained personnel and other specialized services and programs.
The Wayne Fire Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 52 weeks a year. We have 21 full-time sworn Officers, one full-time executive secretary and one part-time clerk II. All Fire Fighters are state-licensed paramedics and have been fully trained to the Fire Fighter II level.
In the Fall of 2003, the Department moved into a state-of-the art building, located at 3300 S. Wayne Rd. Providing 16,430 square feet of modernized living and working space for the firefighters, the station houses both administration and suppression activities including specialized areas for nine decontamination rooms, a breathing air room, and medical equipment room. The basement provides additional storage, an evidence room, and fitness area for firefighters.
